How much does a home wallbox cost installed (2026): price list, installation, inspection and subsidies

The wallbox price in the e-shop is only the beginning. Installation decides, and it depends on the distance from the switchboard and the state of the wiring. We compiled the price list, three model installations from the simplest to trenching to a detached garage, and calculated the payback.

What the price is made of

The turnkey price of a home wallbox has four parts: the station, installation material, the electrician's labour and the inspection. The station is usually 55 to 70 % of the total; the rest depends mainly on the distance from the switchboard and the state of the wiring. A serious quote therefore cannot be made over the phone without a photo of the switchboard and an estimate of the cable route. Prices below are Czech list prices in CZK with euro equivalents at roughly CZK 25 per euro.

Prices from the iont.tech e-shop as of September 2026. Longer cables (8, 10, 12 m) and design panels at a surcharge. Czech VAT is 21 %.

Always included in the station: integrated residual current protection (AC 30 mA + DC 6 mA), a socket with motorised lock or a cable with Type 2 connector, stainless steel body with tempered glass, IP54 for outdoor mounting, RGB status light and a temperature sensor. The SMART version adds consumption metering, the IONT.info app, RFID, dynamic load management and Modbus TCP communication with photovoltaics. Details in the selection guide.

Installation: three model situations

C. Detached garage 40 m away, trenchingbreaker, 5× 10 mm² cable, trench and conduit, possibly a sub-boardCZK 18,000 to 35,000 (EUR 720 to 1,400)CZK 3,000 to 4,000about CZK 36,000 to 54,000 (EUR 1,440 to 2,160)
Ranges depend on the region and the switchboard. The exact price follows an on-site assessment, which the installation partner does free or for a nominal fee credited to the job.
When the price goes up: a full switchboard with no room for a breaker (new board CZK 3,000 to 8,000), no three-phase supply to the garage, old aluminium wiring, the need to upgrade the main fuse with the distributor (for 22 kW), paved surfaces along the cable route.

What can lower the price

  • Subsidies. In the Czech Republic New Green Savings gives CZK 15,000 per charging point when installed together with photovoltaics and the station has dynamic load management (SMART version). Companies and sole traders draw up to CZK 50,000 for an AC station from Záruka Elektromobilita. Details in Subsidies 2026.
  • EV tariff. Not a discount on the wallbox, but a saving of EUR 300 and more a year on electricity for the whole house. The installation's inspection report is the basis.
  • Preparation during construction. If you are building or renovating, have a 5× 6 mm² cable run to the garage now. It saves the most expensive installation item.
  • The right power. 11 kW instead of 22 kW saves not just CZK 2,000 on the station but above all a bigger main fuse and reserved capacity.

A cheap online wallbox for EUR 320: where is the catch

Wallbox offers start under EUR 400. The difference to a manufacturer's station from EUR 600 is usually in five things:

  1. Residual current protection. Cheap stations often lack the integrated DC residual current protection that the standard requires. A type B RCD in the switchboard then costs EUR 160 to 320 extra.
  2. IP rating and material. A plastic body with IP44 does not belong on a south-facing facade. Stainless steel and tempered glass with IP54 last a decade outdoors.
  3. Load management. Without it there is no subsidy and no use of photovoltaics.
  4. Service and updates. Who repairs the station in three years? A European manufacturer has parts and service close by and adds features via online updates.
  5. Warranty and documentation. The inspection technician and the insurer need a declaration of conformity and a data sheet in the local language.

Payback of a home wallbox

Model example: a SMART 11 kW wallbox installed for CZK 30,000 (EUR 1,200) excl. VAT. Against socket charging you save losses (about 10 % of 2,700 kWh = 270 kWh, EUR 60 a year), with the EV tariff another EUR 320 a year and with photovoltaics EUR 200 a year. Total EUR 580 a year, payback about 2 years. Without photovoltaics and without a tariff change the wallbox pays back mainly in comfort and safety, financially in 8 to 10 years.

What a serious quote should contain

  • The exact station type with power, version (socket or cable, cable length) and product code.
  • Itemised material: breaker with characteristic, cable with cross-section and length, conduit or trunking, possibly surge protection and an RCD if not in the station.
  • Labour: mounting, cable pulling, penetrations, trenching, switchboard work, commissioning and app setup.
  • Inspection as a separate item stating that it will be done by a licensed inspection technician.
  • Documents for subsidy and tariff: data sheet confirming load management, declaration of conformity, inspection report.
  • Warranty and service: warranty length, who handles service and how fast, parts availability.
  • Delivery and installation date.

A one-line quote "wallbox including installation EUR 1,000" allows no comparison and often hides a missing inspection or RCD. Ask for the breakdown and compare items, not just the total.

Summary in five points

  1. The e:car WALL wallbox costs from CZK 14,900 (EUR 600) excl. VAT for BASIC 11 kW to CZK 37,900 (EUR 1,520) for the dual-outlet SMART.
  2. Installation with inspection adds EUR 280 to 640 for a normal route, EUR 800 to 1,600 for trenching to a detached garage.
  3. The price rises with a full switchboard, no three-phase supply and a main fuse upgrade for 22 kW.
  4. A subsidy and an EV tariff worth EUR 300 a year cut the cost substantially.
  5. Compare itemised quotes, not one total, and check the RCD, IP54 rating and local service.

Často kladené otázky

How much does a home wallbox cost installed?

The e:car WALL BASIC 11 kW costs CZK 14,900 (EUR 600) excl. VAT; with installation up to 10 m from the switchboard and an inspection the total is CZK 22,000 to 26,000 (EUR 880 to 1,040) excl. VAT. Longer routes and trenching raise the price, a subsidy lowers it.

How much does wallbox installation cost?

Labour and material for a normal installation up to 10 to 15 m cost CZK 5,000 to 12,000 (EUR 200 to 480) excl. VAT, the inspection CZK 2,000 to 4,000 (EUR 80 to 160). A 40 m route with trenching can cost CZK 18,000 to 35,000 (EUR 720 to 1,400).

Is a cheap wallbox for EUR 320 a good choice?

Check the integrated RCD with 6 mA DC protection, IP54 rating, load management, documentation in your language and local service. Without the RCD add EUR 160 to 320 for a type B device; without load management there is no subsidy.

How much does a 22 kW wallbox cost?

The e:car WALL BASIC 22 kW costs CZK 16,900 (EUR 680) excl. VAT, SMART 22 kW CZK 24,900 (EUR 1,000). Add a stronger 3× 32 A breaker and possibly a main fuse upgrade with the distributor.

What subsidy is there for a home wallbox?

In the Czech Republic New Green Savings gives CZK 15,000 per charging point, at most 2 points, up to 50 % of costs, only with photovoltaics and a station with dynamic load management. The programme reopens points from September 2026.

How fast does a wallbox pay back?

With an EV tariff and photovoltaics in 2 to 3 years, because the saving reaches EUR 400 to 600 a year. Without a tariff change it pays back mainly in comfort and safety.
