Why a wallbox, not a socket

Charging that is fast, safe and smart

A wallbox is a wall-mounted charging station. Unlike an ordinary socket, it communicates with the car, keeps charging safe and manages the load according to what your supply can handle.

Up to 10× faster than a socket

At 11 kW a typical electric car charges overnight, at 22 kW in half the time. A 2.3 kW socket needs more than a day and is not built for continuous load.

Safe for the house and the car

Integrated EV residual current device (AC 30 mA + DC 6 mA), Type 2 socket with a motorised lock, temperature sensor and a stainless steel body with tempered glass. Installation with an inspection report recognised by insurers and subsidy programmes.

Smart power management

Dynamic control based on the main breaker (load balance), charging from solar surplus, energy metering and management in the IONT.info app. New features arrive through online updates.

Charge with surplus from your roof

The SMART wallbox has its own meter on the main supply, detects power flowing back to the grid and adjusts its output accordingly. Electricity that would otherwise go to the grid ends up in your car’s battery.

Eco mode – charges only from solar surplus.
Normal mode – watches the house’s main breaker and adjusts power smoothly.
Boost mode – charges at full power when you are in a hurry.
Works with solar systems of any brand, because it does not communicate with the inverter. It can be controlled from Home Assistant via Modbus TCP.

A wallbox is a charging station for electric cars and plug-in hybrids designed to be mounted on a wall (hence the name), most often in a garage, by the house or in a company car park. It charges with alternating current (AC) at 3.7 to 22 kW, up to 10× faster than an ordinary socket. Unlike a socket, it keeps charging safe: it communicates with the car, has an integrated residual current device and can manage the load according to your supply capacity or solar production.

The e:car WALL wallbox from the Czech manufacturer IONT tech starts at CZK 14,900 excl. VAT (CZK 18,029 incl. VAT) in the BASIC 11 kW version with a socket. The SMART wallbox with energy metering, the IONT.info app and solar-based control starts at CZK 21,900 excl. VAT, and a two-point wallbox for two cars at CZK 37,900 excl. VAT. Add installation and inspection, whose price depends on the length of the supply cable and the state of the consumer unit. We are happy to prepare a quote including installation by a certified partner.

A three-phase connection with a dedicated feed from the consumer unit: a 3×16 A breaker for 11 kW, 3×32 A for 22 kW. Up to about 30 m a CYKY-J 5×6 mm² cable is enough; for longer runs use 5×10 mm². The residual current device is integrated in IONT tech wallboxes. Installation may only be carried out by an electrician qualified under Czech Act No. 250/2021 Coll. and trained to install charging stations, who issues an inspection report afterwards. The wallbox can be mounted on a wall or a stand, is rated IP54 and operates from −30 to +50 °C.

The one that matches your connection and the way you use it. For one car at home 11 kW is enough; you will only use 22 kW with a car that can charge at 22 kW on three phases. For a house with solar panels choose a smart wallbox with dynamic power management and Modbus communication (IONT tech SMART), for a business or apartment building a wallbox with energy metering and RFID authorisation (e:car WALL PRO), and for public charging an AFIR-compliant model. The advantage of a Czech manufacturer is service and spare parts in the Czech Republic and regular online updates. You will find a detailed guide in the article How to choose a wallbox.

Yes. A wallbox is a permanently connected electrical device, and after installation an inspection technician must issue an inspection report. Without it you cannot claim a subsidy, and an insurer may refuse to pay out after an incident. The inspection is carried out by a certified installation partner right after installation.

Yes. IONT tech SMART and PREMIUM wallboxes have their own meter on the main supply, which detects power flowing back to the grid regardless of the inverter brand. In Eco mode they charge only from solar surplus that would otherwise go to the grid. The station can also be controlled from Home Assistant via Modbus TCP. More on the page Wallbox and solar PV.

Households can get CZK 10,000 per charging point from the Oprav dům po babičce grant (New Green Savings), as part of the photovoltaics grant (available only together with insulation) and only for a station with dynamic power management, which IONT tech SMART wallboxes provide. Businesses and the self-employed could get up to CZK 50,000 per AC station from the Záruka Elektromobilita programme; the 1st call is exhausted and no follow-up call has been decided yet.
